Patrick J. McCarthy President
Patrick J. McCarthy is the founder and President of Magna Operating, LLC. He has 35 years of finding, developing and operating viable oil and gas reserves in the Texas, Louisiana and the Mexican Gulf Coast. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Geology from the University of Texas in Austin.
Mr. McCarthy is also a co-founder of Verdad Exploration Mexico, LLC. He conceived of Verdad during his career working the Texas and Louisiana gulf coast trends and then formed Verdad beginning in late 2016 by establishing a partnership with Grupo Alfa and successfully acquiring two licenses covering 90,000 acres.
Tony Massoth Petroleum Engineer
Tony Massoth has over 40 years of industry experience in drilling, completion, and production operations primarily in the Texas/Louisiana Gulf Coast, Gulf of Mexico and South Texas areas. Expertise in project supervision, asset management, and production enhancement practices. He holds a B.S. degree in Petroleum Engineering and an M.B.A. from the University of Texas at Austin.
Michael Winston Exploration Manager & Geologist
Michael Winston is an experienced Geological Manager with 25 years in conventional oil and gas exploration and prospect generation. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Geology from the University of Texas at Austin and is a Licensed Professional Geologist. Michael has played a pivotal role in the evaluation and development of oil and gas reserves across Louisiana, Texas, and the Burgos Basin of Northern Mexico. His expertise spans subsurface mapping, seismic interpretation, and the management of drilling operations and production.
Eric Martin Geologist
Eric Martin graduated from Millsaps College in 2018 with a B.S. in Geology and has 2.5 years of unconventional field operations experience. With 1 year spent as a Wellsite Geologist in the Permian Basin and 1.5 years as an MWD Field Engineer in the Williston Basin with Halliburton. Eric has been with Magna since July of 2020 working as a Geologist focused on operations, prospect generation, and consulting jobs.
Vicki Rau CPA
Vicki Rau has over 30 years of experience in Oil and Gas Accounting. Her expertise spans corporate accounting, joint interest audits, revenue analysis, and special projects. Before joining Magna Operating, she worked for IBM Global Consulting, Vastar Resources, and ARCO Oil & Gas.
Oliver Costello Geologist
Oliver Costello received his B.A. in Geology from Columbia University and a M.S. Degree in Geology from the University of South Carolina. He has 40 years of south Louisiana oil and gas exploration and development subsurface and seismic mapping experience. In addition to performing subsurface and seismic mapping tasks, his job responsibilities for Magna Operating include all aspects of geoscience data management. He has a broad experience with a variety of geoscience software as well as extensive database and SQL scripting knowledge and experience
